How we review
Flown, not read about. Here is exactly how a review comes together.
Flown, not read about, and paid for
Every review comes from a flight The FatMan has personally flown and paid for. If we haven't sat in the seat, we don't review it.
What it cost, and how we found it
Each trip report says what we actually paid, any discount or points involved, how far ahead we booked and where we found the fare. If a deal came from a search site or a sale, you'll know which, so you can look for the same.
Nobody sees it first
No airline sees a review before it is published, and none gets a say in what it says.
Figures from the airline, verdicts from the seat
Seat width, bed length and the rest come from the airline's own published figures, with a link to the source. What those numbers mean in practice comes from sitting in the seat. Where an airline publishes nothing, we say so.
The Comfort Question, every time
Every review answers The Comfort Question: what the seat is really like for a larger traveller, shoulders included, with a verdict of Comfortable, Workable or Tight.
Scores
Each flight gets a score out of ten, broken down into seat, comfort, sleep, food, service and value. Every recommendation comes with its downside.
Research is labelled
When we compare a fare or a route we didn't fly, we say it is research and when we checked it.
Money
Some pages may carry affiliate links in future. They are always disclosed and never change a verdict. How we make money.
